Swansong - date please?

A sad day for Invergordon - the Royal Marine brass band plays its final farewell to the town. Can anyone date this please as our date is only guesswork?

I think this is more like 1970 or later. Royal Hotel is gone, Shell garage in place (now, I think, a garden centre).

Thanks Fraser. Nice to hear from you. You're probably right about the date, so we've changed it to 1970. Hope to see you in the New Year. Noreen

Hi Noreen. Memories of 'The Royal' reminded me of Kelly's comment when I was deciding where to go for an evening refreshment (this was after the fire). He said 'don't go to the Royal - you'll get a lot of black stuff in your beer!'

That's just typical of him, Fraser - black humour! But seriously, the loss of the Royal took the heart out of the town, and it's never really recovered.

Is this not later than the 70's? You can make out the "new" row of shops down from the Bone Mill, where the jewellers is/was.

This is mid to late eighties..the jobcentre, on the right was there then. Also the bookies has a modern neon sign. The big give away that it's not 1970?...check the price of the petrol...it was still £SP in 1970!

Thanks for the information. We've changed the date to 1985, unless anyone knows different?

I took this photo and it was the later half of the 80's because I didn't have a camera until then!
