Hello from Lawrenceville, Georgia, USA! I first began playing the bagpipes in 1962 at the age of 10. Not too many years after my start, I became aware of the Invergordon Distillery Pipe Band. Firstly, their one and only album remains one of the finest of its type. This band probably had THE GREATEST collection of pipers and drummers ever assembled.
Over the years, I got to know several of the band members, including one of the greatest pipers who ever lived, the late John D. Burgess.
I have been to your wonderful town twice. On both occasions, I had the pleasure of staying with former band member Kit Reynolds and his lovely wife, Lilly. They took me to the Social Club and their son, Graham introduced me to the wonders of Irn Bru and vodka...
I am delighted to see your town honor the Invergordon Distillery Pipe Band. Rest assured, this band did quite a bit to spread your town's fine name throughout the piping and drumming world.
Great painting, great subject!
