Railway Station
The Seaforth mural project at the railway station is now complete, and is a spectacular tribute to the Seaforth Highlanders.
Not content with painting the town red, Invergordon off the Wall, in partnership with the Invergordon Environment Group have brightened up the Railway Station, as part of the ScotRail adopt a station scheme.
Eight large wooden planters have been built, which have been 'adopted' by different community groups.
At present the community groups caring for the planters are:
- Invergordon Bowling Club
- Invergordon SWRI
- Kilmuir and Easter Logie Girl Guide Company
- 1st Invergordon Brownie Pack
- Invergordon Old Town Residents Group
- Invergordon West Residents Group
- Birchwood Highland
- Invergordon Highland Gathering
For this year, perennial plants and some summer bedding plants have been provided. We have been fortunate in securing the services of Julia Campbell who is on hand to offer advice and help to the groups.
On Saturday, 2 June 2007 on a lovely sunshiny day, a band of volunteers were press ganged into loading soil into the planters.
Special thanks must go to Mr Ackie Davidson who kindly donated the soil and, with the help of his men and a teleporter soon helped to fill the five planters on the north side, whilst the folk on the south side had to barrow in every load for the three planters.
